Cookie Policy

What This Policy Covers

When you visit novcel.com, certain small data files called cookies, are stored on your device. They help the site work as it should, remember your preferences, and give us a sense of how people are using it.

This policy explains what those cookies are, why we use them, and how you can control them. We have kept the language simple. If anything is unclear, reach out to us directly.

What Are Cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your browser or device when you visit. It does not run code. It does not access anything on your device beyond what it stores itself.

Cookies have a few standard jobs: they keep you logged in as you move between pages, remember choices you have made, and tell website owners basic things like how many people visited a page. Some cookies disappear the moment you close your browser. Others stay for a set period.

First-party cookies come from novcel.com itself. Third-party cookies are set by external services we use, such as payment providers or analytics tools.

Cookies We Use

We use four types of cookies on novcel.com:

Essential Cookies

These make the site function. Without them, basic things like completing a purchase or staying signed in, would not work. We do not require your consent to use these, though we list them here for full transparency.

Performance Cookies

These help us understand how the site is being used, which pages get the most visits, where people drop off, how fast pages load. The data is aggregated, so it does not identify you personally. We use tools like Google Analytics for this. Your consent is required before we activate these.

Functional Cookies

These remember choices you have already made, your preferred language, whether you were logged in. They make repeat visits easier. We need your consent to use them.

Marketing Cookies

These allow us to show you relevant ads based on products you viewed. They work through tools like Meta Pixel and Google Ads. We only activate them if you give explicit consent. If you say no, you will still see ads, they just will not be tailored to your browsing on our site.

Your Choices

When you first visit novcel.com, you will see a consent banner with three options:

Accept All Cookies – enables all categories listed above.

Reject Non-Essential Cookies – we will only use what is strictly necessary to run the site.

Manage Preferences – opens a settings panel where you can toggle individual categories on or off.

You can change your mind at any time. Look for the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing consent is as simple as giving it.

Browser-Level Controls

Every major browser lets you control cookies from its settings menu. You can clear existing cookies, block new ones, or set rules for specific sites. The exact steps vary by browser, so check your browser's help section for instructions.

Be aware that blocking essential cookies may affect how certain parts of the site work, login, checkout, or language preferences may not function correctly without them.

How We Record Your Consent

We use a DPDP-aligned Consent Management Platform that logs your choices. Every time you set or update your preferences, we record:

The date and time of your choice

The version of the consent banner you saw

Which categories you accepted or declined

We keep these records so that if there is ever a question about what you agreed to, we have an accurate audit trail. Consent logs are retained for a minimum of one year, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

The Legal Framework

Our approach to cookies is guided by the following:

India: DPDP Act 2023

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 treats cookies that can identify a user as personal data. Under this law, consent must be freely given, specific, informed, and expressed through a clear affirmative action. We do not set non-essential cookies before you have made a choice. DPDP Rules (drafted in January 2025) further specify that consent notices must be written in plain language and that users must be able to withdraw consent as easily as they gave it. We comply with both requirements.

India: IT Act 2000 and SPDI Rules 2011

Until the DPDP Rules are fully notified, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Sensitive Personal Data and Information Rules, 2011 continue to apply. These require us to maintain reasonable security over any personal data collected, and to disclose our data practices clearly. Our privacy and cookie policies fulfil this obligation.

European Union: GDPR and ePrivacy Directive

If you are accessing novcel.com from the EU, the General Data Protection Regulation treats cookie identifiers as personal data when they can be linked to an individual. The ePrivacy Directive (sometimes called the Cookie Law) requires that non-essential cookies are not activated before you have given informed consent. Our consent banner meets both standards.

United States: CCPA/CPRA (California)

California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal data. If our marketing cookies transfer data to advertising networks in a way that qualifies as a sale under California law, we will provide a clear opt-out option. No pre-ticked boxes. No buried settings.

A Note on Children

Under the DPDP Act, anyone under 18 is considered a child. Our site is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly set tracking or marketing cookies for minors, and we do not profile children's data. If you believe a minor's information has been collected through our site, please contact us immediately at support@novcel.com and we will address it without delay.

Accessibility of the Consent Banner

The Shopify cookie consent banner is designed with accessibility and compliance in mind. It features clear language, an easily accessible link to your full cookie policy, and is optimized for screen readers and keyboard navigation to ensure users of all abilities can effortlessly manage, accept, or decline tracking preferences.

Language Support

We recognise that not all our visitors are comfortable reading in English. In keeping with the DPDP Act's emphasis on accessible, plain-language notices, we are working to make the consent flow and this Cookie Policy available in Hindi and other major Indian languages. This will be updated on the site as those versions are released.

Updates to This Policy

We will update this Cookie Policy when we add new cookies, change how we use existing ones, or when the law requires it. The updated version will always be available at novcel.com. We encourage you to check this page periodically.

If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we will notify you through the site before those changes take effect.
